Oluo is a fan-made tribe created by Polluted Kickoo.

Overview[]

Description: "The Oluo were isolated for even longer than he Xin-Xi and the Quetzali, they were stuck on a island with nothing but fish and ore, they sought out adventure but knew that adventures beyond their own waters would end in pain and suffering at the hands of greater tribes. So they kept to their own, all except for a few brave adventurers."

The Oluo make up for their lack of resources with intelligent and fast learners who gain 2 techs from other tribes instead of 1 and gain 1.5 times the XP at the end of the game. They may have a poor start but can catch up technologically pretty quickly.

Fun fact: the Oluo found the best way to navigate water by gouging out their eyes and wearing blindfolds, they use their inner eye to sense the patterns of the waves and their orientation.

Gameplay[]

Terrain:[]

  • Fields: black sand with small pools of water and stones lying around.
  • Forest: 2 or 3 palm trees like Kickoo except larger and with darker leaves and more leaves. Lighter bark.
  • Mountain: black stony cliff with a palm tree on top.
  • Game: sea turtle
  • Fruit: coconut
  • Cities: huts built out of light palm wood with black cloth for a roofing, some buildings will be made with bamboo instead and some will have slanted palm wood roofing.
  • Color: whitish yellow color, like faded pus.
  • Headwear: Black blindfold with seashells in hair.

Spawn Rates[]

They have very little land in small island clusters with lots of fish, mountains, and ore. They have very little forest, fruit, game, and like the Ai-Mo they have no farms ever.

They have lots of whales but not quite as many as Hvaljavik. Not enough to make to be really useful, they will probably start with a whale anyways due to their island location.

Task buildings.[]

  • Park of fortune: pool of water with rocks around it, in the water are starfish, crabs, algae, and sea turtles.
  • Gate of power: two large stakes of driftwood stuck into the ground to crest a triangular gate.
  • Grand bazaar: some stands with black cloth for shade and piles of coconuts and turtle shells.
  • Eye of god: short pillar-like cliff of black stone with a small shrine on top with seashells.
  • Tower of wisdom: tower built out of palm wood with a shell on top and sea stars on the sides.
  • Alter of peace: statue of a turtle with shells on its back to represent the pattern of turtle shells.
  • Emperors tomb: giant black sandcastle with shells all over it, and a small flag on top, in the Oluo color of course.

Relations:

  • Great relations with Imperius, Kickoo, and Quetzali
  • Bad relations with Hoodrick and Xin-xi
  • Okay relations with everyone else

Strategy/summary.[]

This tribe isn't necessarily barren but doesn't have very much land and doesn't have very many resources, their only main resources are fishing and mines, fishing is good because it gets you access to sailing but mines are quite bad, mostly because they are expensive, hard to manage, and their entire branch in the tech tree is pretty disappointing in general. They have a very poor start with these shortcomings but once they starts to meet the other tribes they gain lots of extra tech so they can quickly catch up.

The strategy is to stay peaceful and get sailing as fast as possible so you can meet everyone and get lots of tech. Once you get these technologies you should start to build customs houses which you will get most of your income from. Use the stars to take over the other tribes.

The main kick with this tribe is their slow start but explosive mid to late game. Usually a slow start can severely hinder you score and this tribe doesn't do a good job at that because it takes a while for to get off its island and the other tribes areas are usually quite strong by then. This tribe makes up for that with its score boost at the end of the game. This tribe is not for beginners since it takes practice to use and will often end in either success or complete failure.

Hope you liked it!
